“Art x Ocean x Ecology” Portfolio
My portfolio explores the intersection of art and marine ecology. From illustrating coral restoration and coastal fragility to filming Liang Liang, a short documentary about a captive dolphin’s loneliness, my works aim to inspire curiosity, compassion, and responsibility for the delicate balance between humans and the sea.
Project One — XI Island: Coral Stories
This project began with an eco-beachcombing activity that replaced the “shovel of destruction” with the “eye of discovery.” By teaching children and tourists how to explore beaches responsibly, we raised awareness of coral protection and coastal ecosystems. I later expanded this initiative into a research and illustration project, creating educational brochures that combine environmental science with visual storytelling to inspire community action and ecological responsibility.
Project Two — Documentary Video: Beneath the Water
This short film follows Liang Liang, a dolphin living alone in an aquarium, through the eyes of a student intern who cares for her daily. Blending documentary-style visuals with a personal narrative, it reveals the loneliness behind captive marine performances. By contrasting her confined life with the freedom of the open ocean, the film raises awareness of the emotional and ethical issues of marine captivity and calls for greater compassion and responsibility toward ocean life.
Digital Illustration Portfolio
My illustrations use bold colors and symbolic compositions to tell stories that blend emotion and imagination. Inspired by nature, literature, and human psychology, my work explores themes of serenity, isolation, power, and surrealism—expressing feelings that words alone cannot capture.
Dog Care Booklet
Inspired by my own pet dog, this hand-illustrated booklet introduces children to dog anatomy and common health concerns with friendly visuals and simple science. I shared copies with classmates and teachers to promote care and empathy for animals.
